This year’s proceedings commenced as usual with a welcome speech by President Karin Markides and a lecture by this year’s conferrer Krystyna Stiller, Professor of Physics at the Department of Applied Physics.
In conjunction with the conferment proceedings, the Chalmers Medal was awarded to Professor Per Olof Wikström, whose invaluable achievements have contributed to promoting the work and development of the University.

The 47th Conferment Ceremony in the history of the University took place with musical accompaniment by the Chalmers Orchestra under the leadership of Anders Ottosson, together with songs by Jerker Johansson and entertainment by students from the Ballet Academy as well as Magnus and Henrik Rongedal. Ulrik Höglund gave a recital of Torn-Eriks visa on the flugelhorn.
There were also speeches by doktor promotus Ibrahim Kholilul Rohman and Chairman of the Students’ Union Daniel Langkilde. Master of ceremonies was former Chalmers student Johan Randhem, who has held the position since 2007. He is also very much involved each year in the planning and logistics of the ceremony. Philip Wramsby appeared as William Chalmers and acted as joint toastmaster with Johan Randhem at the formal banquet that took place during the evening at Chalmers Lindholmen.
